CALLAWAY, Maryland— We receive reports this afternoon that a girl has been taken to a nearby hospital after suffering a dog bite.

At approximately 1:37 p.m. on August 6, first responders were dispatched to the 20000 block of Piney Point Road to report that a minor had been attacked by a dog.

Crews arrived at the scene to find a 16-year-old woman had been attacked by what first responders identified as “a Pitbull or Rottweiler”.

No other description of the animal was provided.

The female victim allegedly suffered upper body injuries, later described specifically as around her chest, neck and head.

First responders said she was bleeding profusely, but was conscious, alert and breathing.

The animal was captured and confined shortly after the incident.

The victim was transported shortly afterwards with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

This is a developing story. We will continue to provide additional details as they become available.
