Ruff is coming: FuzzyButz, the city will host Dog Day at the Whirlpool Compass fountain

Get ready for one last canine day of summer this weekend, with a side of pupperoni pizza.

With the last day for the public to play in the Whirlpool Compass fountain scheduled for this Friday, the City of St. Joseph is once again collaborating with FuzzyButz Pet Bakery for Dog Day at the fountain on Saturday, October 1. , FuzzyButz will be handing out dog pizza boxes to the first 50 dogs that arrive. Each box contains dog treats in the form of a slice of pizza, a beer mug treat and a cannoli cookie.

“It was fabulous last year,” City Manager John Hodgson said at the City Commission’s regular meeting on Monday. “It was really cool to see people go down there and let their dogs play in the fountain. I sat there longer than I should admit.

There will also be pizza party themed props for photo ops, according to FuzzyButz’s Facebook page. The event runs from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and organizers said dogs must be kept on a leash at all times.
