Kayla Rae Brown, 26 of Lewisburg, was arrested Monday at her home.

Sheriff’s deputies received a call Dec. 27 that a beagle puppy had been dumped at the intersection of Verona Road and Sonora Road in a small plastic crate on top outside in temperatures of 25 degrees, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies took the 22-week-old dog to a local vet for emergency medical treatment.

The dog could barely move and was malnourished, very thin, suffered from reduced muscle loss and was dehydrated, the sheriff’s office said.
