The City of Windsor Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce the opening of Keizer Dog Park. The park opened on Friday, September 2, just before the Labor Day holiday. The dog park is located in the South Oak Grove near the park entrance to Windsor High School.
“After many community contributions and advice from the Parks and Recreation Commission, we are pleased to provide this new resource to the community,” the City of Windsor wrote on Facebook.
This new 12,000 square foot off-leash dog park on the west side of Windsor features a small dog area in addition to and separate from a larger fenced dog area. Both areas will have seating, a barked play surface and, in the coming months, fun canine play elements.
The natural, shaded location of Keizer Park was originally identified and ultimately chosen after careful consideration by the Parks and Recreation Commission and city staff following feedback from residents. The new dog park is funded by Measure M – Parks for All – a countywide 1/8 cent sales tax. This improvement to Keizer Park will be in addition to any future development identified through the Keizer Park Master Planning process, which is currently undergoing community review.
