Only on: A local family desperately seeks the return of stolen dog, Ted, before the holidays

A local family are desperate for the return of their Yorkshire Terrier ahead of the holidays, after it was stolen from their car while they were collecting takeaway food on Tuesday.

“We want to spend our holidays together and now a member of our family has been taken away from us,” Sid said. “I can’t imagine anything worse.

Surveillance footage of one of the two suspects involved in the dognapping.

Sid and his family were visiting a grandparent in Hollywood on Tuesday when they stopped for food, parking their car in front of Bossa Nova Brazilian Cuisine near Sunset Boulevard and Fermosa Avenue.

They said they had only been inside for 15 minutes when they learned their car had been broken into and their son Ted’s beloved Yorkie had been stolen.

“He’s my best friend,” Sid’s five-year-old son said. “We still have toys for him.”

Surveillance footage shows the suspect’s vehicle, a gray colored Kia Sorrento, pull up behind the family’s car and look inside. He left, only to return about 15 minutes later.

Another person got out of the car and smashed the passenger side window of Sid’s car, reaching out to grab Ted.

He was alerted to the incident by a woman who approached him in the restaurant.

“She was like, ‘Someone came out and broke your window and got your dog out of your car.'”

By the time he rushed outside, it was too late.

“We see there’s glass all over the floor, there’s glass all over the inside of the car,” he said. “The only thing they had taken was our dog.”

The family filed a police report, hoping public awareness could help bring Ted home before the holidays.

“We just know he’s out there somewhere,” Sid’s wife said. “We just want to take Ted home.”

As they anxiously wait, they offer a reward to anyone who can help them get Ted home, no questions asked.
