In a heartwarming rescue, a New York officer adopted a dog she helped rescue from a burning car in Manhattan.
“This pup will never be overlooked again,” the NYPD 19th Precinct wrote in a Tweeter end of July.

According to a Tweeter Beginning June 18, Good Samaritans called 911 after noticing an unattended dog locked in a car on Manhattan’s Upper East Side for more than two hours.
The police responded immediately and discovered a dog in distress inside a hot car with the windows rolled up.




A video clip posted to the tweet shows officers opening the window of the vehicle, releasing the dog and providing him with water and treats. They then took the pup to a veterinarian.








In a follow-up message, the NYPD wrote: “Temperatures yesterday afternoon hovered in the mid-80s and on an 85° day it only takes 10 minutes inside a car to reach a deadly 102°.”
They also informed netizens that it is illegal to leave an animal unattended in a car under such dangerous conditions. Fortunately, the puppy was rescued and taken care of.

A month later, the NYPD shared a sweet update that one of the puppy’s rescuers, Officer Maharaj, had adopted him. They also thanked the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) for helping to care for the pup.
The tweet went viral, garnering over 2,000 likes and many comments from netizens expressing their gratitude to the officer for giving the pup a second chance at life.
“Officer Maharaj is an angel among us,” one wrote. “Thank you for rescuing and adopting this furry child! »
While another chimed in: “This is the happiest ending possible for this sweet dog!”
