Lakeville Firefighters Receive Praise for Helping to Rescue Woman Attacked by Dog – New Bedford Guide

“The Lakeville Fire Department would like to congratulate Lt. Tyler Knight and FF Jason Kirby. These firefighters recently received commendations from the department for their actions in rescuing a woman who was being attacked by a large dog.

The two Lakeville firefighters were nearby at the time of the attack and swung into action. The victim’s injuries were significant but would have been much worse if the firefighters had not intervened.

Chief O’Brien wrote in the commendation that “these actions exposed the firefighters to risks not generally associated with the firefighting profession and their actions should be considered exceptional.” -Lakeville Fire Department.
