Posted on the Prince and Princess of Wales’ official Twitter account, the statement read: “On Thursday the world lost an extraordinary leader, whose commitment to country; kingdoms and the Commonwealth was absolute.
“So much will be said in the days to come about the significance of her historic reign. I have, however, lost a grandmother. And while I will mourn her loss, I also feel incredibly grateful.
“I have benefited from the Queen’s wisdom and comfort in my fifth decade. My wife has had twenty years of her advice and support. My three children must vacation with her and create memories that will last a lifetime.
“She was by my side in my happiest times. And she was by my side during the saddest days of my life. I will honor her memory by supporting my father, the King, in any way I can.”
