Fans always love to hear stories about their favorite NBA players. Whether on or off the field, it’s always nice to hear them. But not all stories are good, we have to remember that NBA players are also human and things can go wrong for them too.
The former NBA player went through something similar in 2002. Back then, Rose was a member of the Chicago Bulls. We’re referring to the incident where Rose narrowly escaped a shooting incident while in the car with one of his friends.
The two were in Los Angeles returning after having fun at a club. That’s when someone started shooting at them, and that led to adrenaline rushing through Jalen Rose.
He decided to hit the accelerator pedal as fast as he could and drove off. As the shooter aimed a few shots at the car, they all missed Rose. At that time, Rose thought he and his friend had survived the incident.
Well, that’s kinda true. Rose could have walked out of this incident unharmed, but her friend was shot.
Jalen Rose tells story of how miscommunication almost cost his friend his life
Watching a friend get shot with bullets can be a horrifying sight for anyone. Similar was the case for Rose. In a video where Rose explained the incident, he revealed he had a miscommunication with the 911 operator.
“He shot the car, not at, nine times. And I look at my man bleeding like crazy. I reached out, grabbed the phone, called 911. Please tell me where the nearest hospital is. My dog just got shot. So I take the directions that 911 gives me. Send me to a vet.”
This story proves that it is extremely important to be careful with your words in emergency situations. It was literally a matter of life or death for Rose’s friend.
While Rose’s friend survived the incident, the shooter was never caught. Moreover, it is not known to this day why the person decided to commit the crime. It seems we will never know.
