DD’s Dog Spa and dog grooming salon open by appointment in Milton

Denise D’Angelo is a multi-talented woman.

If you love live music you may have seen it behind the piano at places like Seville Quarter and Goat Lips Deli or at private events with the Brighton Street Band. When not on stage, she can be found teaching piano, voice, guitar and violin to students of all ages and experience levels.

“Music is my life,” D’Angelo said. “That’s all I’ve ever done. I am a professional pianist, I teach and I perform. But I knew it was time for something different in my life. I wanted to try something different. It was time for a change and I needed it.

Drawing on her love of animals and having groomed her three schnauzers herself over the years, D’Angelo decided that opening a dog spa and salon wouldn’t be too far off. Having recently completed her training and certification, D’Angelo was ready to go.

Last Thursday, D’Angelo made it official and hosted a grand opening celebration online to spread the word about DD’s Dog Spa and Salon.

“We’ve had such a great response so far,” D’Angelo said. “I offer grooming services for dogs of all shapes and sizes. Some places limit the size and can only accommodate small dogs. Other salons may charge additional fees for services such as nail trimming. We won’t. We are a full-service dog spa and salon because we believe every dog should be pampered. Their teeth will be brushed. Their ears will be clean. We will do an overall wellness check, look for dents and bumps and notify their owners as soon as they are discovered.

D’Angelo said the personalized attention she will give to each dog will not stop there.

“My salon is also by appointment only,” D’Angelo said. “Some places I would have to drop off early in the morning and they might end up being there all day. Your dog will be seen as soon as you arrive. We don’t want them to end up spending all day here.

But D’Angelo is far from being a one woman show. Her longtime friend, Madison Morgan, recently moved to Milton from Sedona, Arizona.

“I’m so proud of her,” Morgan said of D’Angelo. “Denise and I went to school together, and I’m here for moral support. I offer concierge services for the dogs. I talk to them and keep them company while being cared for.

In an effort to raise awareness of DD’s Dog Spa and Salon, D’Angelo is offering free dog grooming services through December 31.

“We want people to give us a try, and more importantly, we want people to come back,” D’Angelo said.
