ROCKY MOUNT, Virginia. – This dog is more than ready to head to his new home.
Meet Breki: the dog that shelter staff say is breaking the mold for shelter dogs. He is smart, knows his tricks and strives to learn more tricks and other skills every day.
At only three years old, Breki weighs 80 pounds in total, and sometimes he forgets how big he is.
Breki needs someone who can see his potential, as shelter staff said the shelter has been very overwhelming for him.
Staff said he came to the shelter in April 2021 as a people-loving and animal-loving dog, but over time Breki grew increasingly anxious, causing him to act suspiciously. reactive to people “watching” or other dogs in passing.
Large shelters can often stress dogs and show unusual behaviors over time — behaviors that don’t really reflect their personality, according to shelter staff.
Once he started taking medication, staff said Breki’s anxiety seemed to subside, but staff want him to get to the home he needs as soon as possible.
When Breki is around familiar people, they say he’s a goofy boy who likes to please the people he’s with and absolutely loves to give love.
Staff said Breki would fit in best in a home with a loyal owner, no children, and no cats, and while Breki can sometimes be insecure about others, he is playful with other dogs who are not confrontational. and friendly.
Breki is neutered and has been at the shelter for over 392 days. Now his adoption fees are sponsored – It’s time to give Breki the loving family he deserves.
