Authorities search for missing sisters and a pet dog in a wooded area near Folsom

FOLSOM, La. (WVUE) — Authorities are combing a wooded area near Folsom for two young sisters and their pet golden retriever, after they went missing just before dark Monday night (November 28) in the parish of St. Tammany.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office said Abigail Bourg, 7, and Cecilia Bourg, 4, were last seen around 5 p.m. near their home in the 81000 block of North Willie Road.

The girls’ mother, Mary Bourg, posted a desperate plea for help around 7.30pm which quickly and widely spread on Northshore’s social media.

“Please, please, please, I beg you for your prayers,” the mother wrote. “The entire police and community of Folsom are looking for our girls. They disappeared from our property shortly after 5 p.m. Our golden retriever is with them. Please pray that our babies will come home safe. If you are local, please keep an eye out for anything suspicious. Thanks.”

The St. Tammany Sheriff’s Office, however, has asked the public to stay out of the woods, so as not to hamper their search efforts.

“We know a lot of you want to come out and help with the research. At this time, we are asking everyone to stay out of the woods while the helicopter is in the area so as not to hamper search efforts. Thanks for your help,” the agency wrote in a social media post.

The STPSO said it deployed a helicopter from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, along with drones, ATVs and K9 units for the search.

Anyone who sees the girls or their dog is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (985) 898-2338.
