2 children, mom and dog rescued from Hotel Fire Naperville

NAPERVILLE, IL – Two children, their mother and a pet dog were safely evacuated from a Naperville hotel after a fire broke out Friday afternoon.

Fire crews were called to the four-story hotel in the 1800 block of Diehl Road just after 12:30 p.m. to a report of smoke coming from an air conditioner on the hotel’s second floor. First responders rushed to the scene to find flames and “thick smoke,” according to a news release.

Firefighters used a ladder to help the two children climb out of a window. The children’s mother and a dog were able to walk out of their hotel room.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment for minor injuries. Paramedics assessed the children at the scene and released them to their father’s care.

A firefighter was slightly injured and was assessed at the scene. The cause of the fire was still under investigation as of Friday afternoon.
